<p>It seems like some of these self promoting fat loss experts think they have to come up<br />
with some new fangled mumbo jumbo fad diet with special supplements taken at<br />
specific times like low tide!</p>
<p>What a crock. People are so desperate to lose the fat that they will actually take the<br />
time to read this stuff and send it to me and ask my opinion. </p>
<p>&#8220;Randy what about this new &#8216;super food&#8217; that comes in a 5 lb. container and is supposedly<br />
going to drop my fat and give me energy like a 20 year old?&#8221;</p>
<p>Come on, yea, a new category called a super food. Ah how about your run of the mill<br />
meal replacement powder with a new marketing twist.</p>
<p>You want a meal in a blender? Put 3 ounce juice, 3 ounces water, simple whey protein,<br />
some berries, maybe a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and some crushed ice. There<br />
you go your own meal replacement drink. </p>
<p>Gang it&#8217;s not rocket science to get healthy&#8211;but it is a journey. There is so much information<br />
out there on the internet, but the internet is like a bathroom stall, any one can write on it.<br />
Know your source, check them out, and make sure they aren&#8217;t just trying to make a buck off<br />
you but actually trying to help you. There are some serious marketers out there who know<br />
the health industry in a billion dollar industry and they are marketing expert not fat loss experts.</p>
<p>In fact I follow some info marketers and they tell their clients that they are not fat loss experts<br />
they are marketers!! Oh really?</p>
<p>Well that is my rant for the day, sorry about that.</p>
<p>On a side note 2 things.</p>
<p>1) Last week I celebrated my 13th wedding anniversary and I am a blessed man to be married to<br />
my wonderful wife. I must say I am truly blessed.</p>
<p>2) Thursday the 29th I go in for surgery on my right knee. 6th one on this knee and a bigger one<br />
that just a scope to clean things up. This one is a preliminary for a total knee replacement.<br />
Appreciate any prayers for a successful operation and a super natural recovery. I will keep<br />
you posted on the results this weekend.</p>

I have set up an appointment with a specialist to have my right knee totally<br />
replaced!</p>
<p>Yep. July 19th I have my official consultation to set up with the Dr. to have him<br />
replace my knee joint and give me back a quality of life I have been lacking for<br />
some time.</p>
<p>Now I have put this off for 1 reason&#8212;<br />
Fear. Fear of having my leg cut in half and have a fake joint put in. Every one<br />
is so happy that I am finally doing this. Easy for them, I&#8217;m the one getting the<br />
surgery. </p>
<p>Fear of actually finally getting this done, fear of being put under, fear of it<br />
not turning out right, fear of being off work too long and financially not being<br />
able to sustain paying our bills.</p>
<p>For me getting this surgery is like many people putting off what they know they<br />
need to do to get healthy. They know they need to eat healthier and also start<br />
an exercise program. And like my new knee this has to be a life long decision.</p>
<p>You see a healthy fit life isn&#8217;t a 6 week program, it isn&#8217;t trying to eat right, and<br />
it isn&#8217;t going to give it a shot. It is adapting a new life style and making adjust-<br />
ments along the way.</p>
<p>Many are afraid of change. Many are scarred of success. When they do achieve<br />
that fat loss and drop 3 sizes they are scared of people expecting to see them<br />
fail and blow back up which is the scenario for many.</p>
<p>Well just like me if you want to succeed you have to put your business out there<br />
so you know people are watching. Now here is the mindset you have to have once<br />
you take that leap and put your business out there for every one to see. You have<br />
to know there is no turning back and you will succeed-no ifs, ands, or buts-period!</p>
<p>So I challenge you to let your friends know what you are doing, you will quickly find<br />
out who your real friends are. If they encourage you great, if they ask why you know<br />
you&#8217;ll just gain the weight back or you won&#8217;t stick with the exercise-get some new<br />
friends.</p>
<p>Like me, you need support and encouragement. You need people in your corner to<br />
help you take that turn in the road where there is no tuning back. This is it, you<br />
have made the decision and it&#8217;s time to move forward.</p>
<p>So as I embark on having my knee replaced and getting my life back I encourage<br />
you to get on the road to a healthier you.</p>
<p>I am here for you and many others are also. So time to get going and to never<br />
be where you are today again.</p>
<p>I will keep you posted on my surgery and will document my recovery and progress.<br />
I will take pictures and also post those. Why? Because by doing so I am being<br />
accountable to thousands. I suggest you do the same and draw a line in the<br />
sand and find yourself some accountability partners to help you on your journey.</p>

<p>Any ways, like I said my body is in total rebellion with my mind. What&#8217;s up with that?<br />
Maybe it is because I am going to be 51 next month and my body is telling me that it<br />
is throwing a little revolt and going to show me.</p>
<p>Last time I talked to you all I was shooting for 247 by that Saturday morning&#8211;well I am<br />
actually UP TO 252 this morning!!! What gives?</p>
<p>Well I know that my body is in a state of repair still, and my leg is actually giving me fits,<br />
and 3 of my discs are really inflamed right now also. So I know my body is holding onto<br />
water to cushion my joints and also preserving calories to heal my muscles. Praise God<br />
for the awesome body we were given.</p>
<p>But, hey I am wanting to lose fat right now so I will have to switch it up a little. Now here<br />
is where a lot of folks would panic or just plain throw their hands up and say what is the<br />
use. No, no, no. I will relax, realize what is going on, and keep on track as I have a goal<br />
and I also want to be healthier. </p>
<p>So, gang, I am apologizing for being absent, we have 5 boot camps going now, and my personal<br />
training, and my book writing, and also learning the finance info I need for a project that I<br />
was super naturally blessed with, and I still have a wife, a home, and 5 dogs. So I will get<br />
better with time management, and take notes from my mentor Bishop Gibert, and be on<br />
track again.</p>

<p>No I&#8217;m not. But that is what a lot of people do. I am still making progress, and<br />
even if I wasn&#8217;t what is the other choice&#8211;go back to eating unhealthy and<br />
putting more fat on and being miserable?</p>
<p>Not a hard decision really is it? Keep plugging along. Don&#8217;t quit on your goals,<br />
keep moving forward.</p>
<p>I believe the reason I didn&#8217;t achieve my goal is I experimented with lunch meat,<br />
yep I used deli turkey breast instead of real chicken breast and I actually gained 2<br />
pounds of water weight (I believe) from eating it. I was seeing the effects of eating<br />
this so I could tell my clients from my own experience why (besides cancer causing agents)<br />
they shouldn&#8217;t eat processed meat and stick to real meat. Cancer doesn&#8217;t seem to be<br />
real enough to some but hey not losing weight is. Go figure.</p>
<p>This week I will also try and work out more. Last week was physically rough for me,<br />
no excuses but I really hurt in my knees and lower back and it really zapped me from<br />
doing much of anything.</p>
<p>So without further ado I am now a week closer to November 19th and the close of<br />
my &#8220;51 and FIT PROJECT&#8221;. </p>
<p>This week&#8217;s goal is to see my weight be 247 Saturday morning. </p>
<p>I am right now after Saturday&#8217;s cheat meal&#8211;close your eyes&#8211;260!!!</p>
<p>Yipes! 260 Sunday night, and I want to be 247 Saturday morning!! We will<br />
see what happens.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Okay, I can talk about this from personal experience. I was an obese kid. Yep my<br />
peak was 320 in the 7th grade. Now that would make me 11-12 years old. I started<br />
school a year earlier than most.</p>
<p>I was miserable, had very low self esteem, didn&#8217;t participate in any activities, and mostly<br />
just ate and kept to myself. When I did interact with people I was the funniest person<br />
you ever met. I was the comedy for every family function and at school I was always<br />
voted class comedian.  We know that was just to cover up how sad and miserable I<br />
really was.</p>
<p>Do not let this happen to your child. Do not think it is cute to have a &#8220;husky&#8221; child. Or to<br />
have a &#8220;big&#8221; baby boy. &#8220;Yep he&#8217;s a big one, gonna play football.&#8221; No he probably is going<br />
to sit at home and eat hot dogs and cry himself to sleep while his classmates enjoy the<br />
football games and dances.</p>
<p>I remember going shopping and it was cute that I shopped in the husky department at<br />
J.C.Penny&#8217;s. Yea right. Or the time all of us got cowboy boots except me because they<br />
couldn&#8217;t go over my calves!</p>
<p>No you do not want to have a fat child. And the minute fat cells are formed they don&#8217;t<br />
disappear, and then it is a life long struggle to be fit and healthy. Please understand that<br />
we have an obesity epidemic in the U.S.A. and children are being hit hard. It is up to<br />
the parents as they are the ones who supply the food. Take action and don&#8217;t have your<br />
child become a statistic, or be one of the teens that are already diabetic!</p>
<p>If I am being a little harsh and you are feeling it&#8211;oh well&#8211; no apologies. I&#8217;ve been there<br />
and I know many there now, and I feel for them deeply.</p>
<p>So here are 5 tips to help your child from being one of the growing number of<br />
fat and unhealthy kids out there.</p>
<p>1. You eat properly. Yes mom and dad it starts with you. If you eat poorly where in the<br />
heck is your kid going to eat-at the neighbors? It starts with you and you have to go<br />
ahead and educate yourself on nutrition. Pop tarts are not a natural food group. Trust<br />
me you do not want a fat child. </p>
<p>2. Real food does not come through your window. Fast food is not real food. Fast food<br />
is Fat Food. Give me a break. Get off your rusty dusty and prepare real food. Hey you do<br />
have a stove right? Start using it. &#8220;But Randy I don&#8217;t have time to cook.&#8221; Hey you are<br />
going to have to make time to take your kid to the doctors then. And don&#8217;t use that I<br />
don&#8217;t have time excuse. You make time for what is important to you.</p>
<p>3. Sugar is not a pacifier. I get a kick out of folks who to satisfy their kid from acting up<br />
will give them a &#8220;treat.&#8221; Treat heck, more like a death sentence. I have clients who will<br />
not eat cookies (praise God) but they will give them to their kids for treats. I asked one<br />
mother who was going to bring home some candy her co-workers gave her. I asked her<br />
&#8220;Are you going to eat that?&#8221; , &#8220;Absolutely not&#8221; she replied &#8220;that is poison&#8221;. I then asked<br />
her why then did she think it was okay to poison her children. The candy ended up in<br />
my fitness center&#8217;s garbage.</p>
<p>4. Children like what they are taught to like. They are not born with a liking for McDonald&#8217;s<br />
french fries. They are not born with a craving for animal crackers. They were fed those and<br />
developed a taste and an addiction to those. So you will have to take the blame again<br />
parents. You put the best oil in your car, why would you do any less for your children?</p>
<p>5. Get yourself healthy. Period. End of story. You are the parent, you are the authority<br />
figure, you are the role model, and most of all you are the care taker. So take care of your<br />
child&#8217;s health by taking care of your own. PLEASE.</p>

<p>It had been a long week, I was tired and wore down. I trained my last<br />

<p>When I got home Brenda was out and I knew she wouldn&#8217;t be back for quite<br />
awhile. So I decided I was going to take care of business and go for broke.</p>
<p>But then unexpectantly Brenda came home just as things were heating up!</p>
<p>Yep, the ground sirloin was browning in the pan, the refried beans<br />
were heating up on the stove, and I was sweating from the<br />
habenaro salsa! Yes, it was my cheat meal for the week.<br />
Homemade burritos, refried beans, and chips and salsa.</p>
<p>You ask-&#8221;What is my health &#038; fitness expert eating like this for?&#8221;.</p>
<p>You are in total shock. Well Brenda wasn&#8217;t.</p>
<p>You see as you go on a calorie restrictive diet to lose body fat<br />
the body will go into a mode of self preservation if you will.<br />
Our ancestors didn&#8217;t know when their next meal would be so<br />
the body had a mechanism where it would slow down the metabolism,<br />
stop producing leptin (a hormone that allows your body to use<br />
fat for energy) all to protect you against starvation.</p>
<p>So as I diet 6 days a week, I will have a cheat meal on Saturday<br />
night to stoke up my metabolism for the following week so I can<br />
burn more fat for energy.</p>
<p>So  put off all those psychological cravings for a week<br />
and you can have them in a meal once a week.I said meal, not day.</p>
<p>Now this is not a license to over eat and binge like a truly<br />
starving person. But do eat more than you allow yourself during<br />
the week. Your body will respond by turning up the heat and burn<br />
more calories for you as you get back on your diet for the<br />
next 6 days. And doing this will help you put off eating what<br />
you shouldn&#8217;t as you know if you just wait until your cheat meal<br />
you can have that little extra you are craving. helps keep you<br />
on track, both mentally and physically.</p>
<p>For me I am on my ketogenic diet so I eat proteins and good fats<br />
during the week. Come Saturday I will have around 400 carbohydrates<br />
in just that one meal. And I will tell you my body heats up and starts<br />
burning, I will actually start sweating.</p>
<p>So I was down to 253 pounds from 261 in my first week on my<br />
&#8220;51 and Fit Project&#8221;. This was Friday morning. Now hold on<br />
as I weighed in at 262 pounds Sunday morning!</p>
<p>The larger you are the more water your body will hold. I had a<br />
large amount in me Sunday. Now my body is actually burning more calories<br />
at a higher rate and I am losing fat. But with the water retention it<br />
can play games with your mind. I know what is going on so I<br />
don&#8217;t let it bother me, and I know I will lose approximately 4 more<br />
pounds this week. So my goal to weigh in this Saturday morning is<br />
248-249 pounds.</p>
<p>Then we know what time it is Saturday afternoon&#8212;cheat time.</p>
<p>So, like I said Brenda caught me cheating, but she actually<br />
helped prepare my meal.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I just got a response back from a former Better Life Boot Camper who I had told about<br />
the new 9am sessions. She is busy mom and the time would be perfect for her schedule.<br />
She told me she just had decided to join Bally&#8217;s to &#8220;work on her cardio&#8221;.</p>
<p>Obviously I was bummed out&#8211;but probably not for the reason you think. It had nothing to<br />
do with me making money, I knew she wasn&#8217;t going to get the results she was after. </p>
<p>In all of my presentations, seminars, consultation, newsletters, blog posts and even with people<br />
I&#8217;ve worked with, my message is loud and clear. I am adamant about the real way to get<br />
results for fat loss and firming up. </p>
<p>I mean, I had just taught this very thing this evening in our fitness boot camps. Try doing a<br />
Better Life Boot Camp and tell me it isn&#8217;t &#8220;cardio&#8221;.</p>
<p>And the word cardio gets thrown around a lot by people, well I am talking about doing exercise<br />
that raises your heart rate. And I believe I have many women who will vouch that they get<br />
cardio in our boot camps.</p>
<p>In fact I would say that every one of our members got in great cardio tonight as in every<br />
session we put on. Yes they raised their heart rates.</p>
<p>Back to the &#8220;being bummed&#8221; part, once again it seems like my message isn&#8217;t getting across.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s the number #1 type of exercise you need to do to burn-fat?</p>
<p>Cardio? Right?</p>
<p>WRONG!!!</p>
<p>Strength/resistance training?</p>
<p>Give yourself a star.</p>
<p>Correct.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve said it for 32 years and I&#8217;ll say it again: building lean muscle will increase your<br />
metabolism, allowing your body to burn more fat all day long.</p>
<p>The next best thing to do?</p>
<p>High intensity interval training like say ummm, boot camp. Yep that&#8217;s right.</p>
<p>Combine the 2 together (resistance training and high intensity interval cardio) and you<br />
have one heck of a fat-burning, time efficient workout.</p>
<p>This is exactly what we do in the<br />

<p>But realistically , I&#8217;m guessing about 90% of people who join the gym to &#8220;work on their<br />
cardio&#8221; don&#8217;t do this.</p>
<p>They go there to walk or jog on the treadmill.(while watching Oprah or talking on their phone)</p>
<p>Or they go to ride a stationary bike. </p>
<p>And their bodies stay the same.</p>
<p>That makes me sad.</p>
<p>That is why I ask you to make me happy.</p>
<p>Get working out for real. Combine weight training with interval training and get the life<br />
long results you are looking for. Don&#8217;t waste your time and money.</p>

<p>First I will give a brief outline of my workout this week.<br />
Chest: 5 sets of 10-12 reps going up to 315 lbs.<br />
Back: 3 set pulldowns12-15 reps 180, 210, 240 lbs<br />
Back: 1-arm rows 110lbs x 12 3 sets<br />
Shoulders: Presses: 4 sets of 15 reps used 145 lbs.<br />
Tricep pushdowns: 3 set of 15 reps 130 lbs.<br />
Dumbbell curls: 40 lbs. 3 sets of 12</p>

<p>I did this on Monday in 1 hour. from 4pm-5pm.</p>
<p>That is it so far. I will do each part again Friday.<br />
Still rehabbing my leg so no real workout on them to count.<br />
No abs. I have a 6 pack forever-just need to get fat back off. Here&#8217;s a tip for all you out<br />
there&#8211;endless situps do not give you a six pack. Build the muscles once and with heavy training<br />
they will be there forever. Just get rid of the fat. I have not done any abs since 1991 and when<br />
I get my weight around 225 I have beautiful abs. </p>
<p>On my diet I have dropped my carbs to 60 grams a day. By doing so I picked up my<br />
essential fat intake. I have added natural almond butter to my diet.(thanks Val).<br />
Breakfast 5 whole eggs  (cage free)<br />
Snack: 2 tbsp natural almond butter<br />
Lunch: 6oz. chicken breast in whole wheat wrap with salsa<br />
Snack: 2tbsp natural almond butter with slices of onion!!<br />
Dinner: 4 whole eggs(cage free) in whole wheat wrap with salsa<br />
Later: 5 oz. chicken breast, 1 tbsp natural almond butter.</p>
<p>I will drop the wraps this weekend and take my carbs down to trace carbs from<br />
my food sources. I will switch out salmon for chicken one meal and add green beans<br />
in place of the wraps.</p>
<p>My goal is to see 249 this weekend. This will be a 12 pound loss in 9-10 days. That will<br />
leave me 18 pounds to lose by November 19th. My &#8220;51 and Fit Project&#8221; is rolling as expected.</p>
<p>I am hoping you are rolling on your goal to a better you before the New Year&#8217;s Day. Remember<br />
if you do it now&#8211;one less resolution to keep January 1st!!</p>
